This
is where it all began in the early 1950's when our first Pembroke Hylden
Jimini Cricket (1) entered our home as a pet and soon captured the
hearts of our children. Telteg Susan Gay, a Ch Lees Playmate
(Imp UK) daughter out of Telteg Gaila Star, followed a few
years later and so began a life long involvment with Corgis.
In 1963 we purchased our first Cardigan Aust Ch Telteg Wyld Mink (2)
and it was the children's great joy that she was successful in the
showring from the puppy class, and went on to be a Specialty and Royal
winner in NSW & Victoria. She was the Granddam of our BIS &
Specialty BIS winning dog, and Cardigan of the year in 1973, Aust Ch
Gwaith Montgomery (3) (Gwaith was the prefix under which we bred our
Cardigans). In 1965 we decided that the type and outgoing temperament of
the Pembroke we preferred was that being bred by Miss Patsy Hewan in
England. Her "Stormerbanks Kennel" was well known and went on
to be the largest Kennel for over 50 years producing many outstanding
dogs and bitches.
It was in 1967 that we purchased Crowleythorn Maccason (Imp UK) (4),
a Stormerbanks Boniface grandson after he had won the puppy class
at Crufts. However he did not reach Australia until 1968 because of the
foot and mouth ban on exports from the UK at the time. "Mac"
came out of quarantine in january 1969 and gained his Australian title
just before the Sydney Royal, where he went on to take BOB and Runner Up
In Group under Miss Lily Turner from UK. He was a Multiple In Show &
In Group winner and sired 18 Champions.
